Hearing Aids With Wide Variety of Styles & Solutions
Hearing aids will
not work in a drawer they must be inserted in the appropriate ear and worn
consistently to receive the maximum benefit. Your devices can get lost easily
so they should be used or placed in the storage case to reduce the probability
of loss or damage. Almost all hearing devices use batteries and they must be
inserted properly for use. With current technology today they will give a low
battery warning when it is time to replace them. Once you receive the low
battery tone it's time to replace the batteries. When you purchase these
devices you should receive detailed instructions on how to open the battery
door and insert the battery. Should you decide to not use your Hearing aids for
anything more than a couple of days we advise you open the battery door to
release humidity and preserve the battery.
Cleaning of your
hearing aids should be conducted on a regular basis. Regularly conducted
cleanings using the provided tools from the manufacturer will enhance the
longevity and their functionality. Once cleaned you should store them in a
secure location preferably in their storage case. Cleaning is, and should be,
performed by gently scooping any debris out of the center of the ear bud.
Additionally, some devices have wax filters under the back of the ear bud that
will need to be changed as they tend to clog with ear wax. In order to function
properly hearing aids must be in the correct ear (s) as all are specific to the
right or left ear. In order to facilitate proper wear some are color coded so
the patient can easily identify. These devices must be inserted correctly for
maximum hearing benefit and to ensure they do not fall out.
Often times these
devices need adjusting and or programmed after the initial programming. After
wearing for a few days or months you may notice some sounds or voices are not
adequately amplified or are over amplified. The nice thing about current
technology is most issues can be easily resolved with simple computerized
adjustments. Another point to keep in mind is to have your hearing evaluated
annually to check the stability of your hearing loss. If there is a change in
hearing sensitivity your hearing aids can usually be adjusted accordingly.
Hearing loss affects
millions of people. Hearing aids can help lessen
social withdrawal and increase enjoyment of activities that are big part of
life and undoubtedly help people to stay in touch with their surroundings.
These devices not only increase quality of life for the wearer, but also for
their friends and family. Loss of hearing affects the individual them self, but
it also affects everyone around them.
With current
technology and appropriate care for the person who uses hearing aids it is easy
to enjoy the benefits of reconnecting with the world. You will quickly remember
and enjoy hearing what you've been missing.
